In addition to formative assessments, which are a normal part of classroom teaching, teachers conduct summative assessments with grades for quizzes, tests, essays, and projects.
For over twenty years, TBS has given each student from K5 through 12th the Stanford Achievement Test. The test is given in a week of testing in April to see where students stand vis-a-vis the control group. It is helpful in diagnosing areas of strengths and weaknesses in individuals and classes.
In April of 2015, with the recommendation of the American Association of Christian Schools, TBS made a switch to the IOWA assessment. The IOWA assessment permits the school access to a range of achievement test reports that will abet better tracking of students, as individuals and groups as they progress through their school years.
