Temple Baptist Church began as a ministry on October 19, 1975 when the small congregation began meeting at Herndon High School. Eventually, the church grew and purchased a six acre farmette plot on Dranesville Road for $98,000 adjacent to the school, which is our present location.
Ten years later, the church founded the school. In 1989, the church voted to call Pastor David Pittman to be the pastor of TBC. The vision for the church and school would change dramatically as a result of Dr. Pittman's dynamic leadership. The result? The school began to develop a reputation for academic excellence and a great spiritual atmosphere. In 1999, the school expanded to include tenth grade and in 2001, TBS had its first graduating class.
In September of 2006, TBS was accredited by the North American Christian School Accrediting Agency (NACSAA), which is an organization approved by the Virginia Council of Private Education. (VCPE).
As we look to the future at a new location in Ashburn, Virginia (Waxpool and Ashburn Farm Parkway) in the years ahead, we can say, as the hymnist wrote: "To God be the glory, great things He hath done."
